Crete A brief overview

The largest and most southerly of the Greek islands, Crete offers more variety and sunshine than any other with mild winters and a pollution free atmosphere.

Compared to other European Countries Crete has a low population density and easily accessible landscape, this coupled with a sense of security based on a very low crime rate attracts many expatriates, who choose to holiday or live permanently on the island.

After a survey, it is discovered that on Crete are living the most healthy people of Europe. Low amount of diseases like cancer, hart problems etc. This is connected with the olive oil, food and the climate (always sunshine) and “enjoying life”.

Cretans are proud of their fascinating ancient and modern history and are known for the hospitality they offer to visitors.

Plakias Village

The settlement of Plakias is 40 km south of Rethymnon. From a little fishing village it has developed into a resort with a wonderful sandy beach and rich infrastructure with hotels, tennis courts, health center, rooms to let, tavernas and restaurants. The beach is tended, and offers the opportunity for many water sports, in addition to bathing.
To the west of Plakias there is the sandy beach of Souda, where there are also rooms to let and a few tavernas. Just outside Plakias there is popular Damnoni; nearby are the little beaches of Ammoudi and Mikro Ammoudi, where nude bathers gather.

The Cost of Living
The cost of living in Plakias is nominal. A couple that live relatively simply would need about 1,200 Euro a month. That would include, for example, eating out often, running a house and a small car and having sufficient funds to enjoy life. A yearly allowance of 18,000 Euro would mean you’d never have to worry about money.
